Web import lets users upload files manually from the Files page. It is the simplest import method and is available on every plan.
When to use it
- Small teams uploading documents manually
- Testing a new workflow before connecting automation
- Occasional files that do not need scheduled sync or API upload
Configure after creation
The Add Workflow wizard only selects Web Import. To configure accepted file types:
- Go to Workflows.
- Find the workflow.
- Open the Actions menu (three dots).
- Click Edit.
- Open the Import tab.
- Confirm Import Method is Web Import.
- Set Attachment Types.
- Click Save Changes.
Attachment types
The Import tab supports these file type options:
| Type | Notes |
|---|---|
| Common for scans and generated documents. | |
| JPG, PNG | Common for images and phone captures. |
| TIF, TIFF | Common for scanned paperwork. |
| HEIF, HEIC | Common for mobile captures. |
| BMP | Supported image format. |
| DOC, DOCX | Supported document formats when enabled. |
Only enable the types you expect users to upload. This keeps accidental uploads out of the workflow.
Upload files
- Go to Files.
- Select the workflow.
- Click Add file.
- Choose one or more files.
- Wait for the file status to move from pending to running.
Maximum file size is 5MB per file.
Common issues
| Issue | Fix |
|---|---|
| Add file is not available | Confirm the workflow uses Web import. |
| File type is rejected | Add that type to Attachment Types on the Import tab. |
| File is too large | Files over 5MB are not accepted. Split or compress the document and re-upload. |
| Fields look wrong | Confirm the selected workflow matches the document type. |
See Uploading and Imports for the full file intake flow.
